EJ Training for the World Freestyle Kayak Championships

Big things start small. For those of you around in 2004, I brought two composite prototypes to Penrith, Australia for the Pre-World Championships. An All-Star for me, and a Fun 1 that Dane paddled. They were our Debut on the international stage. Having the Rebound here is very much like that for me. New exciting design, that I know will make many freestyle paddlers very happy. I am not making the boat easily available for testing here, only because I am competing in it, and it is one of a kind. However, I couldn’t say no to Tomasz Czapliki and Bartoscz from Poland. They have both been training here for a long time and have been long-time friends, not to mention that they are both amazing paddlers. I know that I have tried to paddle every kayak ever designed over the years and recommend that everyone else do the same. You will either be very happy with your current boat, or realize that there is something much better out there. Every brand has its nuances that are attractive to some people and not for others. There are also clear breakthrough changes in boats that make certain boats hard to beat no matter what your preferences are. I always try to bring those to market, as it is certainly much easier to sell kayaks that people have to have.

The Rebound is the shortest and lightest freestyle kayak yet. The combo creates a super retentive, quick-moving, easy-to-learn and do tricks boat. My latest trip to the factory was quite productive in organizing the production molds to be made and preparing to provide this boat to those who are ready for a new whitewater kayak brand and a new ride. I am guessing it will now be about 45 days until we are producing the first boats. Graphics, final outfitting, custom boat bag, etc. ready to go. If anyone wants to Pre-Order one, in medium, you can do that now. Meanwhile here is a short video of Tomasz giving it a quick run.

Tomasz had some good input on outfitting, etc. as well that was appreciated!

I am so happy that I made the USA Team to compete here. My first World Championships Debut in Freestyle was in 1993, 29 years ago. Since then I have missed 2 teams- 2015, and 2019. I hope I don’t miss any more. 2023 is in Columbus, GA, USA, only 4 hours from my house! I definitely want to be in that one too! The Rebound will be the boat of choice there.
