This year saw some of the biggest floods in Finnish history, so I and the rest of the Finnish paddling scene naturally took full advantage of it all. With flows reaching 3000+ m3/s the waves were bigger than ever. I had a fun time in Lapland getting to finally paddle my very own Apex Rebound for the first time. The Rebound felt natural to paddle almost immediately And that gave me the confidence to start work on some new tricks for the world championships.

The lightness of the Rebound is noticeable in the amount of air you get, great for throwing it around in big waves.

After this spring I was convinced that The Rebound was just the thing needed to progress my paddling this wave season Being able to paddle something so intuitive was great for confidence and big move improvement. Of course, the shortness of the boat was a key factor for helping me start mastering high angle wave moves like the Panams, clean blunts etc.

Naturally the bigger the wave the bigger the smiles.

I spent a total of 2 weeks in Lapland for the Finnish stakeout. Got to paddle some incredible waves and do some big moves. Now it’s time to set my sights towards Columbus, GA, and the upcoming world championships!
