Estero River Outfitters, nestled on the southwest side of Florida, epitomizes the enduring charm of the great outdoors. Since its inception in 1977 by a couple deeply passionate about nature, it has become a sanctuary for those seeking the thrill of paddling and fishing. Situated along the narrow, fish-rich waters of the Estero River, it has blossomed from a canoe-centric venture into a haven for kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), and, notably, fishing. This evolution reflects not just a business growth but a deepening of its cultural roots in outdoor recreation.

Jeff and Justin Stuller (third brother Josh Stuller missing from photo), and their families take the lead on this awesome shop.

The transition of leadership to the founders’ children, Justin, Josh, and Jeff, marked a new era for Estero River Outfitters. They’ve adeptly blended modern trends with traditional fishing practices, respecting their heritage while steering the business into contemporary waters. Their efforts have fortified the establishment’s reputation as a central hub for anglers and adventurers alike, driven by a commitment to community and environmental stewardship.

Customer testimonials frequently highlight the comprehensive selection of fishing gear, expert-led tours, and the staff’s unparalleled local insights, painting a picture of a business that transcends mere transactional relationships. Estero River Outfitters is celebrated for fostering a culture of fishing that is both respectful and appreciative of Florida’s aquatic ecosystems. The presence of twenty resident snook, attracted by daily offerings of shrimp, serves as a testament to the outfit’s harmonious relationship with nature, that is more fun than seeing Dolphins at Sea World for the fisherman.

sorry for the poor screen shot, but that is a snook eating out of a hand off the dock here.

My visit to Estero, on the recommendation of Dan from Paddling Paradise to become an Apex dealer, unveiled a meticulously organized outdoor shop. The presence of rental and retail boats, alongside a compact yet comprehensive indoor shop, highlighted their dedication to serving a diverse clientele. The enthusiasm of Justin, Jeff, and Al for bringing the Apex brand into their shop, introducing high-end, lightweight kayaks underscored their commitment to enhancing the customer experience, particularly for their older clientele.

The recent addition of two Apex Tyrs to their inventory marks a significant milestone, positioning Estero River Outfitters as Florida’s premier Apex dealership—a fitting accolade for such a committed family and team. My personal adventure was a quest for snook and bass on creek behind the shop, was a reminder (I need daily reminding ;)) of the joy and fulfillment that comes from connecting with nature through fishing and paddling.

OK, so it is a little baby snook… but this fish made me very happy.

Wait, there are bass here, too? I had to catch one of those before getting off the water. I am personally starting to really like the waterfowl camo on creeks like this, what do you think?

For anyone near Naples, Florida, a visit to Estero River Outfitters is a must. Not only do they offer free launches from their dock, but you also have the opportunity to test or purchase your own Apex Tyr. It’s more than just a shop; it’s a gateway to experiencing the beauty and adventure of Florida’s great outdoors.

Meanwhile- the boys just want to have fun with their new toy…

See you on the Water!

🙂
