The TYR is the real deal. It is born, made, and acts different. At 1/3rd or less of the weight of a typical plastic fishing kayak, and bred to make fishing simple and productive, it is a joy to paddle, or motor around, while getting places that just don’t see much traffic by other kayaks or boats.
Yes, the Tyr looks different. It is designed with a “piercing bow” a planing hull, an open stern, swivel carbon bucket seat, and a dashboard/hatch. If you use electronics they are not sticking up in your face, in the way of your rods, or vision.
When you store rods they are not sticking up 7′ above the boat to catch on trees and bridges, but laid down facing backwards, tucked neatly in the rod staging areas out of the way. With a Torqeedo and a battery it weighs less than a plastic paddle kayak. One of my favorite things about the Tyr is that is runs shallower than any other fishing kayak. Get through shallow shoals, gravel bars, shallow swampy water topped out by emergent vegetation, all no problem. The super high seating position provides a really good visual into the water, and the swivel seat makes getting into your gear behind you simple and non body contorting.
We have managed to lower the cost of manufacturing through efficiencies and can pass that on to you, finally. The price is now only $7999 versus $10999 a year ago. It is still a pricey kayak, but much less than it was.
