Creating breakthrough moments is easy when you are a baby. Anything you learn to do, is a first. At 64 years old, Cheryl is creating breakthrough moments in her new sport, Whitewater Kayaking.

At 117 pounds, she isn’t the strongest person in the world. Having a lightweight kayak gives her a big advantage. Her strength/body and body ratio compared to a 180 fit man is very high with a 23 pound Ringer, but is very low with a 45 pound plastic boat. Creating breakthrough moments, doing things on and off the water with ease is possible for everyone. The Apex brand enhances and extends paddling for people who it was a struggle. For the hardcore, strong athletes that are also bigger and can handle the heavier boats without an issue, the lighter boats still provide a huge advantage in performance and reduces the effort to move boats around, hike, load, and unload.

Back to Cheryl- she learned to roll, but… rolling wasn’t a given for her and she struggled in flatwater. Watch her in this video as she gets her boat, and we work through her roll with her and she does some good paddling at Rock Island. This is an 11 minute video, so get a beverage first.

I look forward to seeing where Cheryl takes her paddling in the years to come!
